Exploring Membership Class

If you're new to St. Mark or consider St. Mark your home church and want to get more involved, then the Exploring Membership class is the next step for you!  This class introduces you to what the church is all about (globally & locally) by sharing the mission, vision, and purpose of St. Mark.  You will also learn about our core beliefs, as well as discover what it looks like to connect your purpose and giftings with the mission of the Church.

3-week Exploring Membership Class begins Sunday, February 9, 2020 from 6-7 pm

Week 1 (February 9) - About Church Part 2 (Church local)

Week 2 (February 16) - About Theology (What we believe)

Week 3 (February 23) - About You (Who has God created you to be)

New Member Welcome: Sunday, March 1 during 9:00 AM worship with special fellowship following.

Location: Youth Area of St. Mark Lutheran Church

If it is difficult to make one of the classes, a make-up session can be arranged either before or after another class. If you are interested in attending the class, submit a message (to the right) expressing your interest, and Pastor Brad will contact you.

What are the benefits of being a member of a Church?

  • It identifies a person as a genuine believer (Eph. 2:19; Rom. 12:2-5)

  • It provides a spiritual family to support and encourage them in their walk with Christ (Gal. 6:1-2; Heb. 10:24-25)

  • It gives them a place to discover and use their gifts in ministry (1 Cor. 12:4-27

  • It places them under the spiritual protection of Godly leaders (Heb. 13:17; Acts 20:28-29)

  • It gives them the accountability they need to grow (Eph. 5:21)

What is it like to be a Christian without a church home?

  • A football player without a team

  • A soldier without a platoon

  • A tuba player without an orchestra

  • A sheep without a flock

  • A child without a family

  • A Christian without a church is an orphan.

  • An opportunity to grow in, point to, and share with all the love of God in Christ Jesus

How does someone become a member of St Mark Lutheran Church?

  • Receive Baptism in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit
